Women's volleyball swept at Haverford tri-match

HAVERFORD, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to Wilkes University and tri-match host Haverford College in a pair of non-conference contests on Saturday afternoon at Calvin Gooding Arena.

In the opener against Wilkes, the Nittany Lions (1-6) battled in all three sets but fell by game scores of 25-22, 25-20, 27-25.

Megan Lackman and Alexis Horst tied for the team lead with 11 kills each. Madison Wojciechowski racked up 24 digs, followed by Lackman with eight and Morgan Schwartz with seven. Schwartz also dished out 27 assists and recorded one service ace.

The second match of the day also saw Berks competing strongly, but again finding themselves on the wrong side of the decision. Haverford claimed the match by scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-20.

Freshman Kayla Nespoli enjoyed a fine performance with a career-highs of 12 kills and 10 digs, marking her first double-double of the season. Horst chipped in nine kills and 14 digs, while Wojciechowski had a team-high 22 digs and four service aces. Lackman finished the contest with 13 digs and added five kills and three aces.

The Nittany Lions will host Lancaster Bible College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener on Tuesday, September 12 at 7 p.m.
