Women's soccer opens up NEAC play with victory

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer topped the College of Saint Elizabeth, 11-0, in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (2-3-1, 1-0 NEAC) had nine different players record a point, including eight separate players notch a goal.

Caitlin Golden had a team-high four points after tallying two goals and two assists. Jennifer Martin chipped in two goals and an assist, while Gabby Crawford registered a pair of goals. Charlotte Pizzuto and Megan Jardine both had one goal scored and dished out two assists, while Monica Pinel added one goal and one assist. Alexa Lopez and Julia Green both recorded their first goals of the season. Sarah McMullen notched her first point of the season with an assist on Crawford's first score.

Paige Elmy and Kaylee Frapaul split time in net to record the first shutout of the season. Frapaul made a save on the only shot on goal by the Eagles.

Berks outshot the Eagles by a 39-1 margin (27-1 on goal) and held an 11-0 advantage on corner kicked.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Lancaster Bible College for a NEAC contest on Wednesday, September 27 at 4 p.m.
