READING, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball team earned a 9-4 victory over Immaculata University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Hintz Athletic Field.

The Nittany Lions improve to 14-15 on the year, while the Mighty Macs drop to 20-6 overall.

Berks got on the board quickly with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Cory Fox led off the game with a walk, stole second base and moved up to third base on a fly out to right field. Zach Reis then smacked a line drive to left center to bring in Fox.

The Nittany Lions then put up a 4-spot in the bottom of the second to go ahead 5-0. Dylan Gallagher and Ryan Jacobs had back-to-back singles to start off the inning and Mason Pennypacker drew a one-out walk to load the bases. Fox lined an RBI single to left and Troy Salerno added a sacrifice fly to left field. Toby Welk then roped a double to deep left center to drive in the final two runs of the inning.

Immaculata clawed back into the game with two runs in the top of the third and another one in the top of the sixth inning to make it a 5-3 score. In the bottom half of the inning, Gallagher and Dalton Hughes had a pair of singles to start things off. Fox again singled in a run to drive in Gallagher from second base. Fox moved up to second with a stolen base and scored along with Hughes after the ball was mishandled on a grounder by Seth Endy.

Berks capped off its scoring in the bottom of the eighth when Tyler Comport had a one-out double down the right field line. Fox then had his third single and drove in his third RBI of the game with a single down the left field line to score Comport.

Fox finished 3-for-4 with three RBI, three runs scored, one walk, and one stolen base, while Gallagher was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Hughes added two hits and a run scored.
