Women's basketball drops road contest to Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team could not overcome a late deficit in an 82-71 setback to Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (55-11, 5-9 NEAC) trailed by four points at the end of the first quarter and were down 42-37 at the break. The Phoenix (4-16, 2-14 NEAC) then extended their lead to 13 points heading into the fourth quarter and the advantage swelled 20 points with 5:18 remaining in the game. Berks was able to lessen its deficit down to 11 points, but ran out of time to stage a rally.

Deanna Daddona matched her season-high output in points with a 34 point effort, which is tied for the fourth most points in a single-game in school history. The sophomore guard again collected the bulk of her points at the free throw line, where she converted on 12-of-16 attempts. Daddona connected on four shots from long range to raise her season total to 45 3-pointers made. She raised her scoring average to 23.1 points per game, which ranks third in the conference and is seventh best in the nation.

Sam Brensinger chipped in 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the floor, including two 3-pointers. Sam Huggins grabbed a contest-high 16 boards, while adding seven points and matching a season-high with four assists. Mackenzie Huber made two 3's to finish with six points, followed by Britt Weiss with four points and nine rebounds.

Jordyn Day led the Phoenix with 28 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Ashley Henderson chipped in 20 points, followed by Kristen Burdo with 14.

The Nittany Lions will look to rebound with a trip to Gallaudet University on Sunday, February 5 at 12 p.m.
