DeSales pulls away from Nittany Lions in second half

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball closed out the fall portion of its season with an 89-63 setback to DeSales University in a non-conference game on Thursday night at the Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions trailed 45-30 at halftime, but Berks opened up the second half on a 21-10 run to narrow its deficit to five points (56-51) with 13:43 left in regulation. The Bulldogs responded with a 27-6 run of their own over the next nine minutes to gain a commanding 26 point lead.

Matt Seip and Micah Krauter paced the Nittany Lions with 13 points apiece, while Dave Polisano chipped in 10 points. Robbie McHugh provided valuable minutes off the bench with nine points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Eric Stepnowski matched his career-high with a team best 11 boards to go along with seven points.

Kweku Dawson-Amoah led all scorers with 26 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the floor for the Bulldogs. Mike Bealer hit six 3-pointers to finish with 18 points, while James Smith chipped in 10 points.

The Nittany Lions will return to action after the winter break with a trip to nearby Alvernia University on Sunday, January 7 at 2 p.m.
