Men's basketball edged by LBC on the road

LANCASTER, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team dropped a hard fought battle with Lancaster Bible College, 79-74, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Horst Athletic Center.

The Nittany Lions trailed 38-33 at halftime, but found themselves down by eight points (46-38) just two minutes into the second period. Berks would chipped away at the deficit to pull within two points (52-50) with 13:00 left to play, but the Chargers pushed the lead to eight points over the two minutes and built their largest lead of the half at nine points with 7:30 to go. LBC maintained its nine point cushion with 3:52 to play, before David DiMeo recorded eight straight points for Berks to make it a 74-70 lead for the Chargers. Matt Seip made it a three point deficit with 1:36 left, but LBC pushed back ahead by five with a pair of free throws. Nelson Hine's layup with 39 seconds left pulled Berks within three points again. Jaheel Ydevert recorded a steal with 23 seconds left and the Nittany Lions were able to get off a pair of 3's that would have tied the game, but neither were able to fall.

DiMeo scored 20+ points for the second straight game and third time this season with a contest-high 22 points. The sophomore guard connected on 6-of-10 shots from 3-point range and went 8-of-14 from the floor. DiMeo also had six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one blocked shot.

Seip and Dave Polisano both chipped in 15 points, while Hine rounded out the Nittany Lions in double-figures with 10 points. Seip also recorded eight boards and three steals, while Hine had team-high's in rebounds (9), assists (3), and steals (3). Eric Stepnowski added eight points, seven boards, and two assists.

Herbie Brown led the Chargers with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals. Quentin Davis chipped in 15 points and seven boards, while Christo Majok notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

As a team, Berks went 14-of-27 from 3-point range for a 51.9% and finished 49.1% (28-of-57) from the floor. They converted on just 4-of-9 trips to the free throw line, while LBC went 16-for-28 at the charity stripe. Both teams finished with 39 rebounds, but the difference maker was in turnovers where the Chargers had just 11 compared to 25 by Berks.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Abington in a NEAC tilt on Tuesday, December 5 at 6 p.m.
