Men's basketball drops season opener to Albright

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team dropped its season opener, 107-78, to Albright College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday night at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions battled back midway through the opening half to cut its deficit to eight points, but Albright  used a 17-5 run to take a 50-34 lead into the halftime intermission. Albright opened up the second half on a 23-4 run to take control put the match out of reach.

Matt Seip led the Nittany Lions in scoring with 17 points, while his six rebounds and five assists were tied for the team lead. Dave Polisano and Josh Noble followed Seip with 14 points each, but both went about their scoring in different ways. Polisano connected on 4-of-7 shots from 3-point range, while Noble did the bulk of his damage at the free throw line where he finished 7-for-9. David Dimeo rounded out the Berks scorers in double figures with 11 after sinking three shots from long range. Dimeo matched Seip with a team-high six boards, followed by Micah Krauter with five and Robbie McHugh with four.

Albright was led by DeJuan Smith with 25 points, six rebounds, and four steals. Jared Rappoport notched a double-double with 19 points and contest-best 13 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will compete in the Scranton Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. They will face tournament host University of Scranton on Friday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. They will face off against Pitt-Bradford or York (Pa.) College in either the championship or consolation game on Saturday, November 18.
