Women's soccer tops Bryn Athyn, 5-0

READING, PA - Five different players scored goals as the Penn State Berks women's soccer team defeated Bryn Athyn College, 5-0, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Thursday evening. With the win, the Nittany Lions clinched the NEAC South Division and earned the No. 1 seed for the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

The Nittany Lions improved their season-high win streak to five straight and now sit at 11-5-1 overall and 9-0 in the NEAC, while Bryn Athyn drops to 9-6 on the season and 5-5 in the conference.

Berks had four goals in the first half, which CAITLIN GOLDEN was directly a part of in each one. The first goal of the evening came at the 9:41 mark of the opening period, when Golden's corner kick was headed inside the near post by Karina Raykova. In the 15th minute, Golden sent a feed from inside the box to Monica Pinel, who then deflected the ball past the keeper to give Berks a 2-0 cushion. Golden later found the back of the net in the 25th minute off a pass from Alexa Lopez for her team-best 17th goal of the season. The final goal of the first half was a chip over the keeper by Megan Jardine, with Golden recording her career-best third assist of the game.

The lone goal of the second half came off the foot of Gabby Crawford at 77:01 with Jardine providing the assist.

Paige Elmy and Kaylee Frapaul split time in net for the Nittany Lions, with Frapaul making the save on the only shot on goal. Bryn Athyn keeper Allie Warren finished the contest with 21 saves. For the game, Berks outshot the Lions by a 47-2 margin (26-1 on goal) and held a 8-4 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will host Wilson College in the final contest of the regular season on Saturday, October 28 at 4 p.m., where they will host their annual Pink Game fundraiser.
