Women's volleyball swept at Rutgers-Camden tri-match

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to host Rutgers-Camden, followed by a 3-1 setback to Marywood University on Saturday afternoon.

In the opener, the Nittany Lions (11-12) were topped by scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-22. Against the Pacers, Berks dropped the opener 25-15, before pulling out a 30-28 victory in the second game. They were then downed 25-22 and 25-15 in the next two games.

Megan Lackman led the Nittany Lions with nine kills against the Scarlet Raptors, while Maddy Kessler chipped in six, Amia Boone and Abbie Carr both had five. Madison Wojciechowski picked up 20 digs, followed by Morgan Schwartz and and Lackman with nine each. Carr matched a career-high with three service aces, while also collecting two block assists and one solo block. Schwartz handed out 26 assists on the Nittany Lions 30 kills.

Wojciechowski racked up a career-high 39 digs against Marywood, which easily surpassed her previous high of 33 last season against Penn State Abington. The 39 digs rank as the second most in a single-game in school history, trailing Krista Stancombe's 42 recorded against Immaculata University on September 23, 2009. For the season, Wojciechowski has recorded 457 digs, which is the most in the NEAC. As a team, Berks finished with 88 digs versus the Pacers. After Wojciechowski's 39 digs, Lackman had 17 and Schwartz recorded 10.

Alexis Horst led the offense with 11 kills, followed by Lackman with nine. Schwartz, who dished out 31 assists, collected three service aces, while Carr chipped in two.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Moravian College for a non-conference contest on Thursday, October 26 at 7 p.m.
