LANCASTER, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team topped Wells College, 3-0, and Keuka College, 3-1, to pick up a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victories on Saturday afternoon at Horst Athletic Center on the campus of Lancaster Bible College.

The Nittany Lions, who improved to 10-9 on the season and 6-1 in the NEAC, snapped a three-match losing streak against Wells, which included a season-ending loss in the NEAC postseason last year. Berks topped the Express (14-10, 6-1 NEAC) by game scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-22.

Both teams went on lengthy scoring runs during the opening game, with Berks running off five straight points to build a 19-14 advantage. The Express responded with an 8-2 run to jump out to a 22-21 lead. But Berks closed out the match with four straight points to gain a 1-0 match lead. As a team, Berks had 11 kills and nine errors on 44 attempts for a .045 hitting percentage, while the Express totaled seven kills and eight errors on 46 attempts for a -.022 attack percentage.

Wells went on a 4-0 rally, but the Nittany Lions ended the threat with a pair of points to win the second game.

The Nittany Lions never trailed in the third game, but the Express did not go down without a fight. With the match even at 8-all, Berks went on a 4-0 run and later tallied three straight points to lead 16-11. Wells hung around and pulled within one point of the Nittany Lions (23-22) late in the game, but back-to-back kills by Megan Lackman sealed the victory for Berks. The third game was the most efficient one for Berks, finishing with 17 kills and seven errors for a .227 hitting percentage.

Berks used a balanced attack by their offense to earn the victory. Lackman, Amia Boone, and Maddy Kessler tied for the team lead with eight kills apiece, while Alexis Horst added seven and Abbie Carr had six. The duo of Kessler and Carr were a force at the net, with both recording four block assists. Horst led the Nittany Lions with 20 digs, followed by Madison Wojciechowski (14) and Lackman (12). Morgan Schwartz finished the opening contest with 32 assists, six digs, three service aces, and two kills.

Against the Wolves (5-14, 3-4 NEAC), Berks claimed the first game by a 25-17 margin, but dropped the second 25-22 to make the match score 1-1. The Nittany Lions rebounded with a 25-15 triumph in the third game and used a solid offensive effort in the 25-11 fourth game victory.
