Women's basketball falls to Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team was unable to overcome from a rough third quarter in a 65-50 setback to Bryn Athyn College on the road in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (3-7-, 3-5 NEAC) led 19-17 after the first quarter and took a 34-33 advantage into the halftime intermission. But Bryn Athyn tallied 22 unanswered points out of the break and outscored Berks by a 24-5 margin in the entire third period to lead 57-39 entering the final quarter. Berks outscored the Lions (9-2, 6-1 NEAC) by an 11-8 margin in the fourth, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Deanna Daddona again led the Nittany Lions in scoring after tallying 17 points. The senior guard knocked down three 3-pointers, to give her 92 made in her career which is the second most in program history. For the season, Daddona has recorded 218 points for a scoring average of 21.8 per game, which is the third most in the conference.

Britt Weiss provided another strong performance of the bench with 10 points and nine rebounds (6 offensive) to go along with two steals and an assist. Sam Brensinger chipped in nine points, six assists, six boards, five steals, and one blocked shot. Sam Huggins hauled in a game-high 16 rebounds and handed out three assists. Elise Paskowski added eight points and seven rebounds, while Mackenzie Huber had six points and six rebounds.

Kristina Clark led the Lions with 15 points, 14 boards, seven assists, and two blocked shots. Allison Warren had 13 points, followed by Samantha Hicks with 12 and Sarah Elizabeth Atunrase with 10.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a pair of home NEAC games next weekend against members from the North Division. They will host Morrisville State College on Saturday, January 21 at 1 p.m. and Cazenovia College on Sunday, January 22 at 12 p.m.
