Women's basketball picks up win over Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team dominated the glass and took advantage of its second chance scoring opportunities in a 64-48 victory over Penn College of Technology in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Thursday evening at Bardo Gymnasium.

The Nittany Lions (3-6, 3-4 NEAC) jumped out to a 14-8 after the first quarter and took an 18 point lead into the halftime intermission. Berks pulled down 34 offensive rebounds en route to winning the battle of the boards by a 57-27 margin. The Nittany Lions controlled the contest with 21-2 advantage in second chance points.

Britt Weiss had a break out game for the Nittany Lions with the first double-double of her career. The freshman forward recorded 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, both of which were her season highs in those categories. Deanna Daddona led all scorers with 21 points to go along with seven rebounds, and four assists. Sam Brensinger rounded out the Nittany Lions scoring in double figures with 14 points, while also adding a season-best seven boards and handing out six assists. Sam Huggins and Elise Paskowski both brought down 11 rebounds.

Gwendolyn Lavelle led the Wildcats with 11 points and four steals, while Maddie Wenk followed with 10 points and had four assists. Jane Herman chipped in nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Bryn Athyn College for a NEAC contest on Saturday, January 14 at 1 p.m.
