Men's soccer falls on the road to Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -  The Penn State Berks men's soccer team dropped its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest, 7-2, on the road to Morrisville State College on Sunday afternoon at Drake Field.

The Nittany Lions are now 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the NEAC, while Morrisville State improves to 5-1 on the season and 4-0 in conference action.

The Mustangs jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but T.J. Yurkovic scored in the 13th minute to cut the lead in half. Jon Mercier assisted on the play as Yurkovic raised his season total to four goals scored. Trailing 4-1 coming out of the halftime intermission, Berks clawed its way back to a two goal deficit when a corner kick deflected off of a Mustand defender and into the goal. But that is as close as the Nittany Lions would get against the two-time reigning conference champions.

Jamieson McKoy and Joe Sheehan led the Mustangs with two goals each.

Morrisville outshot the Nittany Lions by a 21-6 (10-5 on goal) margin and held an 11-5 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will host SUNY Polytechnic in a NEAC contest on Saturday, September 24 at 3 p.m.
