Women's tennis opens up conference play with win

Box Score READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory over Penn College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener on Saturday afternoon at Gring's Mill Tennis Courts. (Boxscore)

The doubles team of Kianna Anderson and Caroline Bashore won their No. 1 bout by a score of 8-4, while Marje Robinson and Tanya White teamed up for an 8-1 victory out of the second flight. Cassidy Schultz and Erin Ginther finished off of the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win in the third spot.

Robinson (No. 2) won her singles match 6-1, 6-2, followed by White (No. 3) with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Bashore pulled off a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 4 spot and Schultz (No. 5) had a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Ginther rounded out the singles winners with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at the sixth flight.

The Nittany Lions will continue conference play with a match against the College of Saint Elizabeth on Sunday, April 3 at 11 a.m.
