Baseball falls to Wilkes in non-conference contest

KINGSTON, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball team dropped its non-conference game, 10-4, on the road to Wilkes University on Wednesday afternoon at Artillery Park.

The Nittany Lions fall to 13-7 on the season, while Wilkes moves to 15-12 overall. Berks managed 10 hits for the game, three of which went for extra bases.

Toby Welk went 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base, while Dalton Hughes finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Cory Fox led off the ninth inning with a triple and came around to score on a single by Welk. John McGarvey singled in the eighth inning and scored on a double to left center by Austin Madeja. Will Budock and Max Edgin each had singles, with Budock and Troy Salerno also recording a stolen base.

Alex Doyle, Andrew Hertzog, and Ryan Tenney shared the pitching duties. The trio finished the day with six strikeouts, Hertzog recorded three of the strikeouts.

The Nittany Lions will travel north for a pair of NEAC doubleheaders this weekend. They will face Penn College of Technology on Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m., followed by a doubleheader at Keuka College on Sunday at noon.
