Women's basketball edged in home finale

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team was narrowly edged, 85-83, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday evening at Beaver Community Center.

It was the final home game of the season and prior to tip-off Cassidy Schultz and Shanelle Koch were honored with Senior Day festivities. The duo are both four-year standouts who have etched their names all over the record books. Koch finished the game with a team-high 27 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four assists and four steals, while Schultz added four points and seven assists.

In the fourth quarter alone, there were six lead changes and the game was tied up four times. The Eagles led by seven points with just over a minute left in regulation when Koch knocked down a 3-pointer and she hit another triple with 33 seconds left to pull the Nittany Lions within one point (84-83). It was just the second and third 3-pointer Koch had made in her career and was the first make from long distance since her freshman year, also in a game against the College of Saint Elizabeth. The Nittany Lions were unable to get the go ahead basket in the final seconds and Amerisse Rogers tacked on a foul shot with four seconds left to give the Eagles their winning margin.

Koch had several strong takes to the hole that led to easy lay-ups and finished the game 9-of-18 shooting from the floor, 2-of-2 from beyond the arc, and 7-for-9 at the free throw line. Deanna Daddona connected on 5-of-6 3-pointers and finished the contest with 24 points to go along with four assists, three rebounds, and two blocked shots. Dakota Dawson turned in her finest performance of the season with 13 points and eight points, both of which are career-highs. Whitney Allen chipped in six points and six boards, while Angie Russell had five points and five rebounds.

Danesha Triplett led the Eagles with 28 points and 21 rebounds, while Jasmine Poole added 21 points and 14 boards.

The Nittany Lions will finish off the season with a road trip this weekend at Wilson College (February 19) and Gallaudet University (February 20).
