Men's basketball comes up short at Abington

ABINGTON, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team had its rally fall short in a 94-85 setback to Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest on Wednesday evening.

Berks trailed 44-40 at halftime and saw as much as a 15 point deficit midway through the second half before fighting back to within five points (90-85) 00:32 left in regulation. But Abington was able to seal the victory by hitting a pair of free throws and adding a layup down the stretch.

Dameon Nixon led Berks with a career-high 28 points on 11-of-24 shooting from the floor and 4-of-9 from 3-point range to go along with six rebounds and three assists. Baba Waples added 17 points, followed by Christian Burggraf with 16. Nelson Hine rounded out the Nittany Lions in double figures with 11 points, while Michael Aldridge pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds. Aldridge became the single-season leading rebounder after raising his total to 210.

Yusef Savage led Abington with a game-high 35 points and 13 rebounds. Dequan Jackson chipped in 22 points and Devin Jones had 16.

The Nittany Lions will host SUNY Polytechnic in a NEAC contest on Saturday, February 13 at 1 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
