Mummau powers Nittany Lions to semifinal round victory

READING, PA - Lizzie Mummau turned in her best performance of the season to lead the Penn State Berks women's soccer team to a 7-0 victory over Penn College in the semifinal round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions, who are
the tournament host, improve to 16-3-1 on the season while the No. 4 seeded Wildcats drop to 11-9-2 on the year.

Mummau broke through with the opening goal of the game in the ninth minute off of a cross in the box from Caitlin Golden. At the 18:30 mark of the game, Karina Raykova played a ball down the sideline that Mummau dribbled in beat the keeper with a line shot into the left side to give Berks a 2-0 cushion that they would take into the halftime intermission.

Coming out of the break, Mummau assisted on a score by Golden at the 49:04 mark of the game. Mummau then recorded the hat trick off of a feed from Brennan Moyer in hte 51st minute. Mummau capped off her fine day with an assist on Kaylie Smucker's goal at 56:54. Golden added another score with a beautiful drive in the upper right 90 to put the Nittany Lions ahead 6-0, Megan Jardine added the assist.. Nicole Brigante tallied the final score of the game with Hannah Harkay providing the assist.

Paige Elmy and Kaylee Frapaul combined on the shutout, with Frapaul making the save on the lone shot on net.

The Nittany Lions will face the winner of the semifinal round match between Lancaster Bible College and SUNY Polytechnic in the championship on Sunday, November 6 at 1 p.m.
