Women's basketball falls to Keystone in season opener

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team dropped its season opener, 81-49, to Keystone College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions (0-1) were hampered by cold shooting in the first and third periods to create too big of a deficit to overcome. They combined for 16 points in those quarters, while racking up a total of 33 points in the second and fourth periods.

Deanna Daddona drained four 3-pointers on her way to a contest-high 26 points to go along with six rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Sam Brensinger had a strong showing in her collegiate debut with 10 points, six boards, and a team-high four assists. Freshmen Sam Huggins and Elise Paskowski also made an immediate impact as the duo each pulled down seven rebounds, while fellow freshman Britt Weiss followed with seven boards and added six points.

The Giants were paced on offense by Nina Hodanich's 21 points, while Dyjae Williams and Bryce Garrett each chipped in 14 points. Williams collected a double-double with her game-high 10 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions return to action with non-conference action against Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday, November 22 at 7 p.m.
