Women's soccer blanks Wilson in NEAC tilt

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team picked up its fifth consecutive shutout victory after blanking Wilson College, 10-0, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday evening.

The Nittany Lions, who are unbeaten in their last 10 contests, improve to 8-2-1 overall and 7-0 in the NEAC, while the Phoenix fall to 5-8 on the season and 2-6 in conference play.

Lizzie Mummau picked up a pair of goals in the early going en route to hat trick. The senior forward also had an assist to finish with a season-high seven points. Caitlin Golden and Kaylie Smucker each tallied two goals, while Dana Sarcinello registered one goal and two assists. Nicole Brigante and Keri Klimko chipped came off the bench to add goals. Karina Raykova handed out a season-high two assists, while Alexa Lopez and Brennan Moyer each had one assist.

Paige Elmy made a save on the only Phoenix goal that made its way on target. She combined with Kaylee Frapaul to record the teams eighth shutout of the season.

Brianna Martin finished the game with 15 saves in goal for Wilson.

The women's soccer squad, along with the men's team, hosted their annual Pink Game fundraiser to benefit the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.  The teams, both wearing pink t-shirt jersey's, collected donations from fan's in the stands, as well as hosting a half time shooting contest.

The Nittany Lions will host Gallaudet University in a NEAC contest on Saturday, October 8 at 1 p.m.
