Volleyball closes out conference play on a high note

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team wrapped up its league action with 3-0 wins over Penn College of Technology and Wilson College in a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests on Saturday afternoon at Bardo Gymnasium.

The Nittany Lions reach the 20-win plateau for just the fourth time in program history as they now sit at 20-9 overall and 10-3 in the NEAC. With the wins, the Nittany Lions clinched the postseason for the seventh consecutive season. Berks will await the rest of the conference contests to conclude to see what seed they will be and who will be the tournament host.

PSB 3, PCT 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-19)
Janae Barlow continued on her solid play from Friday night's victory over Gallaudet University by leading the Nittany Lions on Saturday morning with nine kills and a solo block. Megan DeAbreu and Megan Lackman each tallied eight kills, while Alexis Horst added five. Laken Bankert recorded four service aces to give her 54 on this year, which ranks fourth all-time in a season in program history. Morgan Schwartz handed out 20 assists in the winning effort.

On defense, Madison Wojciechowski had a team-best 12 digs, followed by Horst with nine and Lackman with seven.

Jordyn Smeltzer led the Wildcats with nine kills, while Sophie Coldsmith chipped in seven. The duo both recorded a contest-best 17 digs, followed by Lauren Slater with 13.

PSB 3, Wilson 0 (25-9, 25-7, 25-12)
In the nightcap, Horst led the Nittany Lions with nine kills and Barlow followed with eight. Schwatz dished out 17 assists and had a contest-high and personal-best six service aces. Barlow finished with a team-high eight digs and Wojciechowski had six.
 
The Nittany Lions will finish off their regular season with a home match against Moravian College on Wednesday, October 26 at 7 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
