Men's soccer earns shutout win over St. Elizabeth

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team picked up a shutout victory, 6-0, on the road over the College of Saint Elizabeth in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improved to 7-9 overall and 7-4 in the NEAC to stay in the middle of the pack of the playoff picture. They are currently in fifth place in the conference standings with the top seven teams earning a spot in the postseason tournament.

Dan Zhmurkin had a career-high six points after tallying two goals and two assists, while Cole Mays matched his personal-best of five points with his two goals and assist. T.J. Yurkovic got the scoring started early with a goal just 1:05 into the contest. Jairo Ordonez registered his first goal of the season with a strike in the 22nd minute to give Berks a 4-0 lead at the time.

Gerardo Sosa and the defense picked up their fifth shutout of the season, which set the program record for most shutouts in a season.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a NEAC contest on Sunday, October 23 at 2 p.m.
