Golden nets hat trick in win over Wells

AURORA, N.Y. - Caitlin Golden recorded a season-high three goals to help the Penn State Berks women's soccer team to an 8-1 victory over Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions picked up their eighth consecutive win to improve to 11-2-1 overall and 10- in the NEAC, while the Express fall to 9-5 on the year and 6-4 in the conference.

Golden scored the opening goal of the game in the 10th minute and added the final two scores of the first half to give Berks a 4-1 lead going into the intermission. The sophomore forward also had the assist on Monica Pinel's goal in the 78th minute. Golden raised her season total in goals to 15, which is tied with Emily McGuigan of Keuka College for the NEAC lead.

Lizzie Mummau tallied a first half goal, her 13 of the season, with Dana Sarcinello adding the assist. Keri Klimko, Alexa Lopez, and Shelby Baker each recorded second half goals. Klimko and Brennan Moyer both notched assists in the second half.

Paige Elmy made a save in the first half and Kaylee Frapaul had a stop in the second period.

Emma Booth had the lone goal for Wells at the 29:30 mark of the contest.

The Nittany Lions will travel to the University of Scranton for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, October 19 at 7 p.m.
