Women's volleyball drops home match to Alvernia

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped a home contest, 3-0, to Alvernia University on Thursday night at Beaver Community Center.

The women's volleyball squad teamed up with the men's and women's soccer teams to host their annual Fall Pink Games, with all proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County. The teams, who all wore pink t-shirt jersey's and hosted contests at their respective home games, combined to raise $194.27.

The Nittany Lions fall to 15-7 overall, while Alvernia improves to 7-14 on the year. The Crusaders claimed the victory after winning by game scores of 25-18, 26-24, 25-23.

Janae Barlow finished with a team-high nine kills, followed by Alexis Horst with six. Madison Wojciechowski had a contest-high 18 digs and Morgan Schwartz handed out 23 assists.

Emily Smith led the Crusader attack with 19 kills, while also notching 11 digs.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Lancaster Bible College for a NEAC contest against the College of Saint Elizabeth on Friday, October 14 at 8 p.m.
