Women's tennis falls in NEAC title game

Box Score SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (May 3, 2015) - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team was unable to continue its magical run as they fell to Colby-Sawyer College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Women's Tennis Championship on Sunday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions entered the title contest on a nine-match winning streak, which included a run through the NEAC West Division Championship last weekend. Colby-Sawyer, who won the NEAC East title in the fall, picked up a 9-0 victory and will now earn an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament.

All three of the doubles matches were an 8-1 outcome in favor of the Chargers. Erin Ginther battled in her No. 4 singles bout, but fell to Christine Hill by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Liz Kurtz dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 5 singles, while Cassidy Schultz second set rally came up short in a 6-0, 6-4 setback.

The Nittany Lions had plenty to be proud of in the 2014-15 season. After falling to Penn State Abington March 29, the Nittany Lions strung together their nine straight wins and won the division title. In addition, they had six player earn All-NEAC West honors, including four on the first team.
