Women's tennis advances to NEAC Championship

Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, PA (April 24, 2015) - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team defeated Wells College, 5-2, in the semifinal round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament on Friday evening at the Birchwood Tennis Club. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (8-9) led 2-1 at the conclusion of the doubles matches. The No. 2 team of Megan Antosy and Erin Ginther pulled out an 8-5 win over Danielle Bautista and Nicole Sanborn. Liz Kurtz and Cassidy Schultz cruised to an 8-1 victory in the third spot. Nandita Munindra and Lexi Vidal played hard, but dropped the top doubles bout by an 8-4 margin.

Berks was able to grab three singles wins to clinch the match in the race to five wins. Munindra went three sets at No. 1 singles, winning by a score of 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. Marje Robinson grabbed another win for the Nittany Lions with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in fifth singles. Kurtz was the other Berks winner with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at the fourth spot.

The Nittany Lions will now face Penn State Abington in the title game on Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m.
