Women's basketball battles against Lancaster Bible

READING, PA (February 7, 2015) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team put a scare into the NEAC leading Lancaster Bible College on Saturday afternoon, but in the end the Chargers came out on top by a score of 70-58 in Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions trailed by 15 points at halftime and LBC scored the opening basket of the second half to go ahead 41-24 and seemed to be cruising to another victory. But Berks picked up on both ends of the floor with a 16-0 run the spanned 9:17 worth of the second half, which made the 41-40 with a little of 10 minutes to play. The Chargers (16-3, 13-1 NEAC) closed out the game strong to prove why they deserve their second straight conference regular season title.

Shanelle Koch continued her elevated level of play with a team-high 22 points (9-of-15 from the floor) and 10 rebounds to go along with five steals, three assists, and a blocked shot. Koch is now sitting at 976 career points, 379 coming this season. The junior guard is averaging 21.1 points per game, which leads the NEAC and is the seventh most in all of Division III.

Cassidy Schultz recorded 20 points, four assists, thee rebounds, and two blocked shots. Mackenzie Huber added 11 points of 5-of-8 shooting from the floor, while Jaslyn Silva had five points and five assits.

Shanice Smith and Aubrey Folger each netted 18 points for the Chargers, with Smith also bringing down a contest-high 19 boards. Katy Stove added 13 points, followed by Kirsten Webster with 11.
