Nittany Lions fall to Abington in Pink Game

READING, PA (February 11, 2015) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team dropped its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest, 82-40, to Penn State Abington on Wednesday evening at Beaver Community Center.

Shanelle Koch lead Berks with 21 points to raise her career total to 997. Koch had a shot at the career milestone, but her 3-pointer in the waning seconds of the game clanked off the front of the rim and fell to the ground. The junior forward is averaging 21.1 points per game, which leads the conference and is tied for the sixth most in the nation. In addition, Koch recorded seven rebounds, four assists, and blocked two shots.

Cassidy Schultz added 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor.

Stephanie Keyes led Abington with 29 points to go along with nine rebounds and three assists. Kyra Lunsford added 21 points and Jessica Schmidt had a game-high 13 rebounds.

The men's and women's teams, along with the entire Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sponsored a Pink Game fundraiser. They were able to raise $354.82 which will all go to the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County. For more information about the non-profit organization, please click here.
