Men's basketball outlasts Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, PA (February, 4, 2015) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team clung to a narrow lead throughout the final minutes of the contest in a 69-66 victory over Bryn Athyn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday evening.

The Nittany Lions trailed 32-31 at halftime, but found themselves behind through the start of the second half. After trailing 39-37 with 15:13 left in the half, the Nittany Lions went on a 12-4 run that gave Berks a comfortable lead. Bryn Athyn was able to pull within one point with 39 seconds remaining in regulation. Baba Waples sunk a pair of free throws and Lions 3-point attempt to tie the game fell short as time expired.

Christian Burggraf had a contest-high 24 points after knocking down four 3-pointers. He also pulled down seven rebounds to go along with a steal and an assist. Waples added 15 points and four rebounds, while Nelson Hine added 10 points and five boards. JOEL ELLISON, who went 7-for-7 at the foul line, finished with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Bryn Athyn was led Damontay Fowler-Thomas with 17 points, nine rebounds, and five steals.Austin Nyekan added 12 points off the bench and Deion Boyer chipped in 11.

The Nittany Lions will host Lancaster Bible College in a NEAC contest on Saturday, February 7 at 3 p.m.
