Women's basketball holds on for win over Wilson

READING, PA (February 20, 2015) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team staved off a late rush by Wilson College to earn a 59-56 win in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday evening in Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions took a 36-19 lead into the halftime intermission before Wilson slowly chipped away at the deficit and eventually tied the contest at 54-all with 3:15 left in regulation. In that final stretch, the Nittany Lions tallied all of their points at the free throw line to secure the victory.

Shanelle Koch, who was honored prior to the game for reaching the 1,000 career point plateau, accounting for nearly half of the Nittany Lions point total with 27 to lead all scorers. The junior forward has 488 points this season, which is the second for a single-season in program history, while she now sits at 1,085 points in her career. In addition, Koch brought down nine rebounds to go with her four blocked shots, three steals, and three assists.

Mackenzie Huber chipped in 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Cassidy Schultz added eight points and seven boards, while handing out a career-high seven assists. Jaslyn Silva and Heather Gray each recorded five points, while Nicole Maslowski matched a career-best with five steals.

Amber Jones led the Phoenix with 17 points, followed by Morgan wonders with 15. Miranda Long notched 11 points and a game-high 20 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will finish off the season on Saturday, February 21 at 1 p.m. when they host Gallaudet University.
