Women's basketball falls in season finale

READING, PA (February 21, 2015) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team closed out its 2014-15 season with a 65-52 setback to Gallaudet University in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions, who struggled at the foul line in a win on Friday night, were able to convert 13-of-15 attempts this afternoon for an 86.7 percentage, which is the fourth best in a single-game in program history.

Shanelle Koch closed out her incredible season with 17 points, six rebounds, five blocked shots, and three assists. The junior forward had one of the finest single-season performances in program history. Last weekend she became just the fourth member in program history and has since moved into the third most career points with 1,102 points. In addition, she currently has the highest career points per game average at 17.5. Koch finished the season with an average of 21.0 points per game, which is a Berks record, leads the conference, and is the ninth best in the nation. She has the second most single-season points at Berks with 505 and was the first player in program history to record double digits points in every single contest.

Cassidy Schultz added 14 points and four assists to wrap up her strongest year of her career. She finished with a career high in points (288), scoring average (12.0), field goals (99), rebounds (95), assists (81), and steals (32). Freshman Mackenzie Huber added seven points, six boards, and two assists, while Heather Gray chipped in six points.

Prior to the game, Nicole Maslowski and Jaslyn Silva were honored with a Senior Day celebration. In her final game, Maslowski recorded a contest-high eight rebounds to go wither her two assists and two steals. Silva recorded six points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

Lane Peters led the Bison with 13 points and a contest-high 19 rebounds, while Alexa Justus chipped in 13 points.
