Trio leads Nittany Lions to win over Wilson

READING, PA (February 20, 2015) - Dameon Nixon, Christian Burggraf, and Baba Waples accounted for the bulk of the scoring for the Penn State Berks men's basketball teams 86-72 win over Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday evening at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions (7-16, 7-10 NEAC) kept its playoff hopes alive with the win and they control their own fate in the season finale against Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon. With a win, Berks will clinch the third and final playoff spot, while a loss will give the spot to Penn State Abington.

Nixon and Burggraf each finished with a contest-high 24 points, while Waples followed with 21 points. The trio combined for 69 points on 26-of-51 shooting from the floor and 13-for-18 from the free throw line. Nixon added seven assists, five rebounds and three steals, while Burggraf had six rebounds and three steals.

The Phoenix led 38-36 at halftime and were ahead by three points with 10:48 remaining in regulation. Berks went on an 18-4 run over the next few minutes to gain an 11 point lead with 5:09 to play. After Wilson cut the deficit to five points, the Nittany Lions pulled away with six quick fast break points to build a comfortable 12 point lead with just 1:30 to left.

Michael Aldridge had a game-high 11 rebounds, to go with his five points and two blocked shots. Trevor Ford had five rebounds and recorded two of his four points with a clutch layup in the final two minutes.

Rahim Bunch and Mylan Ward led the Phoenix with 16 points each, followed by Ben Holl with 14.

The Nittany Lions will host Gallaudet on Saturday, February 21 at 3 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
