Men's basketball drops heartbreaker to Gallaudet

READING, PA (February 21, 2015) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team saw its playoff hopes get crushed after suffering an 81-78 setback to Gallaudet University in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions led 43-35 at halftime, but the Bison used a 19-7 run over the final four minutes to earn the come from behind victory.

Christian Burggraf knocked down four 3-pointers and finished tied for a game-high with 26 points. He finished the season ranked second all-time in program history with 460 points and a 19.2 points per game average.

Baba Waples came off the bench to add 19 points to go along with his three assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Nelson Hine had a career-day with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor and grabbed 10 rebounds for the first double-double of his collegiate career. Michael Aldridge added eight points, two blocked shots, and a team-high 11 rebounds, while Dameon Nixon added eight points, seven assists, and four steals.

Joshua McGriff led the Bison with 26 points, 15 rebounds, five blocked shots, and three assists. Trey Gordon chipped in 18 points, followed by Raymond Nelson with 13.

Prior to the game, the Nittany Lions honored Jake Kovach with Senior Day festivities. During his two seasons with the men's basketball team, Kovach has appeared in 38 contests and made two starts. He has recorded 44 points, 23 rebounds, and 11 assists.

With the bulk of the team expected to return next season, the Nittany Lions will look to get back to the postseason in the 2015-16 season.
