Nittany Lions edged in overtime

COBLESKILL, N.Y. (February 15, 2015) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team fell in overtime, 89-83, on the road to SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon at Iorio Gymnasium.

Christian Burggraf drained a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to even the game at 71-all. The Nittany used a 13-0 run throughout the second half to build their largest lead of the game at four points. In the overtime period, Baba Waples knocked down a 3-pointer to put Berks ahead 74-72. But the Fighting Tigers responded with six straight points and they would not surrender the lead the rest of the way.

Waples shot 10-of-15 from the floor to finish with a contest-high 25 points. Dameon Nixon, who played the entire 45 minutes, recorded 17 points and 11 assists to go along with his five rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots. Burggraf also did not take a breather on his way to 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Michael Aldridge recorded 18 rebounds, which is the second most in a single-game in program history, and added 13 points.

Alexis Nunez led Cobleskill with 24 points, followed by Travis Woods with 16.

Penn State Abington lost to Morrisville State College on Sunday afternoon to remain tied for Berks for the third spot in the standings at 6-10. Both teams have two conference contests remaining to claim the final playoff spot. Berks will host Wilson College on Friday, February 20 at 8 p.m.
