Men's basketball downed in overtime by Delaware Valley

READING, PA - Christian Burggraf scored a career-high, but it was not enough as the Penn State Berks men's basketball team suffered an 108-103 loss in overtime to visting Delaware Valley University in a non-conference contest at Beaver Community Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions were ahead 49-47 at halftime and built a eight-point cushion with 9:44 remaining in regulation before the Aggies used a 21-5 run over the next five plus minutes for an eight-point lead of their own with 3:08 left in the second half. Nelson Hine recording seven of the Nittany Lions final 11 points in regulation to push the game into overtime with a score of 91-all.

In the extra period, DVU shot 5-of-7 from the field and were 7-for-12 at the foul line, compared to 4-of-12 from the floor and 2-for-4 at the line by Berks.

Burggraf matched a career-best with six three pointers made and poured in 35 points, which ranks second all-time in a single game in program history. The senior guard finished 13-of-22 from the field and converted on 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. As a team, the Nittany Lions made 13 3-pointers which is the second most in a single game.

Hine also enjoyed a career-day with 18 points (4-of-6 from long distance), nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Baba Waples came off the bench to add 18 points, six assists, and four rebounds, while Dameon Nixon recorded 13 points, eight assists, and seven boards.

The Aggies were led by the trio of Chris Moran (28 points), Alex Matsinye (27 points), and Tyliek Kimbrough (24) points. Andre Butler recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.

The Nittany Lions will open up NEAC play when they host Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday, December 2 at 6 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
