Women's soccer picks up win on Senior Day

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team picked up a 5-0 shutout over Penn College of Technology in a North Eastern Athletic Conference contest on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (12-2-2, 10-NEAC) recognized Caitlin Deibler and Ellie McKinstry with Senior Day honors prior to the contest. McKinstry finished the match with two goals, while Deibler played a vital role on defense to record the shutout and limit the Wildcat offense to just three shots (one on goal).

Brennan Moyer sent a pass over the defense that Lizzie Mummau tracked down sent into the back of the net to put Berks ahead 1-0 at the 2:02 mark of the opening half. The Wildcats (7-7-3, 7-2-2 NEAC) defense toughened up and held Berks scoreless the rest of the half.

McKinstry added a pair of unassisted goals in the 48th and 55th minute to put the Nittany Lions ahead 3-0. Dana Sarcinello added a goal in the 56 minute and Chrissy Smith finished off the scoring at the 64:23 mark of the contest.

Paige Elmy made a stop on the only shot on target to record the win and a shutout.

The Nittany Lions will travel to SUNY Polytechnic for a NEAC contest on Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.
