Women's soccer records shutout over Abington

ABINGTON, PA (October 1, 20150) - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team picked up a 3-0 victory on the road over Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Thursday afternoon.

Berks improved to 8-1-2 overall and 7-0 in the NEAC, while Abington is now 4-3 for the season and 2-1 in conference action.

Dana Sarcinello was finally able to break through with a goal with just 3:56 remaining until halftime. The junior midfielder's shot hit the bottom of the crossbar and went into the net for her six goal of the season. Lizzie Mummau gave Berks a little more breathing room when she tallied a goal in the 69th minute, with Sarcinello providing the assist. Caitlin Golden then put the match away with a goal in at the 82:31 mark of the contest.

Paige Elmy made three saves to pick up the shutout. The defensive play of Paige Clawser, Brennan Moyer, Caitlin Deibler, Shelby Baker, and Morgan Shade was able to limit Abington to only eight total shots (three on goal). Berks held a 14-8 edge in total shots, while Abington had a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will face Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, October 3 at 3 p.m.
