Women's basketball picks up win over Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, PA (January 31, 2015) - Shanelle Koch scored a season-high 33 points to lead the Penn State Berks women's basketball team to a 75-57 victory over Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions trailed 3-2 just 43 seconds into the contest, but a pair of free throws by Koch gave Berks a lead that they would not relinquish the rest of the way. They took a 38-23 lead into the intermission and the closest the contest got was nine points with 11:28 left in the contest.

Koch scored the first 13 points for Berks after the break and finished with 24 points in the second half. The junior guard shot 11-of-18 from the field and was 11-for-14 from the free throw line. She also pulled down 13 rebounds to record her tenth double-double of the season. She is currently averaging 21.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.

Cassidy Schultz chipped in 19 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Mackenzie Huber added 10 points and eight boards. Nicole Maslowski tallied all nine of points from free throw line where she converted on 9-of-10 chances. Jaslyn Silva had four points, four steals, two assists, and matched a career-high with nine rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Gallaudet University for a NEAC contest on Sunday, February 1 at 1 p.m.
