WBB falls short against Wells

AURORA, N.Y. (January 25, 2015) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team suffered a 74-71 setback on the road to Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon at Farenthold Athletic Wing.

The Nittany Lions erased an eight point deficit in the first half to take a 35-32 lead into the break. The Express eventually took the lead and had the ball with a three point cushion and the shot clock turned off. But solid defense by Cassidy Schultz led to a Wells turnover and Berks' 3-pointer to tie it in the final seconds bounced off the front of the rim.

Shanelle Koch poured in 25 points and nine assists. The junior forward leads the conference in points per game with a 19.9 scoring average. Schultz turned in a career-high 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor, marking the sixth game this season that she has reached double figures. Schultz also recorded four rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Nicole Maslowski rounded out the Nittany Lions scoring in double digits with 10 points.

Heather Gray and Mackenzie Huber added five points each, while Jaslyn Silva had three points and a career-high six rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn College of Technology for a NEAC contest on Wednesday, January 28 at 6 p.m.
