Nittany Lions cruise in win over Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (September 7, 2014) - Dana Sarcinello and Jen Kessler combined to score seven goals in a 10-0 win for the Penn State Berks women's soccer team over Morrisville State College in Sunday's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest.

The Nittany Lions (3-1, 2-0 NEAC) unleashed five shots on goal in the opening 17 minutes, but Mustang keeper Kallie George was able to stop each of them. It was not until the 20th minute that Sarcinello was able to find the back of the net. The match looked like it was going to head into the intermission with Berks owning just a 1-0 lead, but Kessler shook her defender and scored a goal with 33 seconds remaining in the half. The Nittany Lions outshot Morrisville State 24-1 in the first half and 43-4 for the entire contest.

Sarcinello scored the first three goals in the second half, inlcuding a pair of goals seperated by just 18 seconds. In the second half scoring barrage, Kessler also had two scores, while Caitlin Deibler, Kelly Medence, and Chrissy Smith each netted a goal.

Goalkeepers Savannah Cramer and Zoe Fletcher notched their third straight shutout after both recorded two saves and have not allowed a goal in the last 273:42 of game play. Much of that success is thanks to the elevated play of the defensive back row of Katie Warner, Emily Rumpf, Brennan Moyer, and Shelby Baker.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Abington, in a rematch of the 2013 NEAC Championship game, on Wednesday, September 10 at 5 p.m.
