Women's volleyball earns sweep over Lancaster Bible College



READING, PA (September 23, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team pulled out a 3-0 win over visiting Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Tuesday afternoon at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions (5-5, 3-1) bounced back from a tough 3-2 on Sunday afternoon to conference foe Wells College. Berks jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the opener and held off a late Chargers (7-7, 2-2 NEAC) rally to earn a 25-20 win. They then picked up a 25-14 lead for a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the third game. LBC led 21-20 late in the third and the two teams exchanged sideouts until the Nittany Lions were able to rattle off three straight points for a 25-23 victory.

Sophia Zhang recorded double-digit kills for the seventh straight time this season with 17. The sophomore outside hitter committed only one error on her 29 attacks to finish with a .552 kill percentage. Heleanna Davison was also very efficient on her attacks, recording nine kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Davison also added four block assists.

Megan DeAbreu had a team-high 14 digs, followed by Zhang and Cassidy Schultz with nine. Jordan Heath handed out 38 assists to raise her season total to 334.

The Nittany Lions will return to action with a tri-match at Alvernia University on Saturday, September 27. They will face Alvernia at 10 a.m. and Immaculata University at 12 p.m.
