Smith's late goal sinks Albright

READING, PA (September 23, 2014) - Chrissy Smith scored off of a cross by Ellie McKinstry for the decisive goal in the 86th minute to cap off the Penn State Berks women's soccer teams 2-1 comeback win over Albright College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (8-1), who have extended their winning streak to eight, have now beaten Albright by a score of 2-1 in back-to-back seasons. Berks outshot the Lions (3-5) by a 19-11 margin, but Albright held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

In the 32nd minute, Albright's Emily Sousa converted a penalty kick into the left corner to gain a 1-0 lead, which they would maintain into the intermission.

McKinsty, who was recently named NEAC Offensive Player of the Week, recovered a loose ball and it over the keeper and into the far back corner to tie the match at 1-all in the 56th minute.

The game-winner started off when Brennan Moyer played a corner kick toward the far post. The ball was knocked around by a few players before McKinstry crossed the ball over a few defenders and Smith redirected toward the far corner and past the diving goalkeeper.

Savannah Cramer made four saves to secure her eighth win of the season. Albright keeper Jaymee Stepp made nine saves in net, including a crucial diving stop on a shot to the top corner by Dana Sarcinello to keep the score tied at 1 at 84:01.

The Nittany Lions return to action with an away contest at Alvernia University on Wednesday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
