Women's volleyball falls in five to Wells



AURORA, N.Y. (September 21, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 setback to host Wells College on the second day of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover.

The Nittany Lions (4-5, 2-1 NEAC) took the opener by a 25-21 margin, but Wells evened it with a thrilling 25-23 win. Berks then took the third game by a 25-22 score, but the Express evened things again with 25-19 win. In the decisive fifth game, Wells emerged victorious with a 15-11 win.

Sophia Zhang finished the contest with 14 kills, 12 digs, and two service aces. Cassidy Schultz chipped in nine kills, while Heleanna Davison and Maria Pavone each added seven kills. Megan DeAbreu led the Nittany Lions defense with 21 digs, while setter Jordan Heath handed out 42 assists.

The Nittany Lions will host Lancaster Bible College in a NEAC contest on Tuesday, September 23 at 7 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
