Nittany Lions cruise to win in home finale



READING, PA (February 19, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team picked up a 74-64 win over Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday night at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions honored Kellie Wilson and Keisha Robinson with a Senior Day celebration prior to the game. Wilson has been a four-year member of the team, while Robinson has played the last three seasons. In their final game at Beaver Community Center, Wilson finished with 12 points and five rebounds and Robinson added eight points six steals, five assists, and five rebounds.

Shanelle Koch led the Nittany Lions with 18 points and 16 boards, for her eighth double-double of the season. Cassidy Schultz followed with 13 points and matched a career-high with five assists. Khadijah Robinson tallied eight points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Berks took a 38-28 lead into halftime, but the Phoenix cut that deficit to six points with two quick baskets to start the second half. The Nittany Lions then went on a 26-4 run to take total control of the game. Wilson gave Berks its largest lead of the game at 29 when she knocked down a 3-pointer 7:48 left, and shortly after the starters sat for the rest of the game.

The Phoenix were led by Vanessa Whitfield, who went off for 37 points, 19 boards, and six blocked shots. She shot 15-of-27 from the floor and knocked down three 3-pointers. Morgan Wonders added 11 points, eight boards, and three blocks.

The Nittany Lions will finish off the season with a road contest at SUNY Cobleskill on Friday, February 21 at 7 p.m.
