Women's basketball falls in season finale



COBLESKILL, N.Y. (February 21, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball closed out the season with a 72-65 setback to SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday evening at Iorio Gymnasium.

The Nittany Lions trailed by seven points at halftime, but started out the second half on a 15-6 run to go ahead by two with 15:25 to play. The two teams battled back and forth down the stretch, but the Fighting Tigers pulled away at the free throw line in the final minute. In the final :39 seconds, Cobleskill went 4-for-4 at the line and made the only jumper they took to pull away.

Keisha Robinson and Kellie Wilson, playing in the final game of their career, each finished in double-figures. Robinson tallied 14 points, five assists, and five rebounds, while Wilson added 13 points, a team-high nine boards, and four assists. Wilson finished off her four-year career with 649 points, which is the fifth most in program-history and her 53 3-pointers made are the third best at Berks. Robinson recorded 565 points in three seasons and finished second all-time in 3-point shooting percentage (.328), assists (234) and third in steals (242).

Shanelle Koch went 6-for-8 at the foul line and finished with a team-high 18 points. Koch finished off the season with 346 points and a scoring average of 15.0, both of which rank among the top-10 in a single season. Cassidy Schultz and Khadijah Robinson each chipped in nine points, while Robinson added two blocked shots.

The Fighting Tigers had four players finish in double figures, led by Shelby Preston with 21 points. She also brought down 14 boards to pick up a double-double.Tracee Shiebel added 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Kady Porterfield (13 points) and Kaena Davenport (11) rounded out the scorers in double-digits.
