Strong shooting leads Nittany Lions to conference win

READING, PA (December 12, 2014) - Michael Aldridge enjoyed a career day and was one of four players to score in double-figures as the Penn State Berks men's basketball team took down Penn College of Technology, 80-65, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday evening at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions had a double digit lead through most of the first half, but it was cut to 45-37 at the intermission. Berks pulled away in the second half with the help of 6-of-10 shooting from three point range. In addition, the Nittany Lions won the battle of the boards by a 46-36 margin.

Aldridge recorded the first double-double of his career with 10 points and a team-high 14 rebounds, both of which were personal bests. Aldridge was 4-for-4 from the floor and converted each of his free throw lines. He provided strong defense in the paint with one blocked shot and nine of his boards were on the defensive end.

Christian Burggraf and Dameon Nixon each chipped in a team-high 18 points. The team went 9-for-15 from 3-point range, led by Burggraf with a 4-for-5 effort, while Nixon was 2-for-4. Nixon also recorded five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Jalen Flynn added 13 points to round out the Nittany Lions in double figures. Joel Ellison knocked down the first 3-pointer of his career and finished with seven points and eight rebounds. Nygel Belizaire had six points, seven rebounds, and game-high three blocked shots.

Michael Brown led the Wildcats with 14 points, followed by Kevin Laurence-El with 11. James Boylan had nine points and 12 rebounds, while Marquis Delgado had nine points and six assists.

The Nittany Lions will return to action with a home conference contest against Bryn Athyn College on Saturday, January 10 at 3 p.m.
