Late goal dooms men's soccer

READING, PA (October 7, 2014) - The Penn State Berks men's soccer came back from one down twice in the second half, but Juniata College picked up the winning goal in the 88th minute to down the Nittany Lions, 3-2, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon.

The teams fought through a scoreless first half before the two offenses combined for five goals in the second half.

After the Eagles scored 10 minutes into the half, Anthony Kidron showed off his strong left leg to tie the match at 1-all at the 66:59 mark of the game. A Juniata defender tried to clear the ball to the sideline, but Kidron brought the ball down and sent a line drive with his left foot past the diving keeper from about 30-yards out.

That 1-1 score was short lived, as Nick Stone-Weiss headed a cross over the keeper and into the back far corner. Chase Sheldon assisted on Joe Budnovitch's goal in the 81st minute that evened the contest at 2-all.

The contest looked like it was heading to overtime, but Stone-Weiss dribbled through traffic and put the ball on the ground into the left corner.

Kyle Baker played strong in the net for the Nittany Lions with 12 saves, just two off of his career-high.

The Nittany Lions will return to action on Monday, October 13 at 6 p.m. against Penn State Hazleton.
