Second half explosion leads to Nittany Lions win over Hazleton

HAZLETON, PA (October 13, 2014) - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team tallied five second half goals en route to a 6-1 road win over Penn State Hazleton in a non-conference contest on Monday evening.

Berks outshot Hazleton by a 25-18 margin, including a 15-4 advantage in the second half. They also held a 3-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Joe Budnovitch scored a goal in the 33rd minute and the Nittany Lions took a 1-0 edge into the halftime intermission. Early in the second half, Isaiah Danner tallied his first two goals of the season and Michael Vang added his first score this season. Budnovitch scored his second goal of the contest in the 70th minute and Gordon Daichendt capped of the scoring with his first collegiate goal in the 86th minute.

Stephen Speer tallied his first win in net after making three saves.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a non-conference contest at Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, October 15 at 7 p.m.
