Cramer accomplishes rare feat in regular-season finale

AURORA, N.Y. (October 25, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team defeated Wells College, 7-0, in the regular season finale to finish off the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) slate unbeaten for the third consecutive year on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (16-2, 12-0 NEAC) led 4-0 at halftime, with the fourth goal coming off the foot of goalkeeper Savannah Cramer on a penalty kick in the 40th minute. It is the first goal of her collegiate career and first goal ever while suited up as a keeper. She is currently tied for 51st for goals scored all-time in Penn State Berks history.

Chrissy Smith recorded the first three goals of the game, with Taylor Schwartz adding the assist on the first and third goals. Ellie McKinstry, Lizzie Mummau, and Jen Kessler all scored second half goals and Kessler also added an assist.

Cramer made two saves on the only shots to reach her and she combined on the 13th shutout of the season with Zoe Fletcher. The defensive unit, powered by senior Emily Rumpf and Katie Warner as well as Caitlin Deibler and Brennan Moyer have been able to shutdown opposing attacks all season long. The Nittany Lions have outscored the opposition 115-9 and outshot their opponents 547-128.

This was the last regular-season contest of the illustrious career's of Cramer, Rumpf, and Warner. Cramer and Warner have been four-year members for a program that has gone 55-17-3 overall and 41-3-2 in NEAC play. Since Rumpf has joined the mix with Cramer and Warner, the Nittany Lions won three NEAC Regular Season titles, one NEAC Runner-Up, one NEAC Championship, and one trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The NEAC Championship will begin on Saturday, November 1 at the site of the higher seed. The semifinal and championship rounds will then take place at Penn State Berks on Saturday, November 8 and Sunday November 9.
