Women's soccer clinches third straight regular season title

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. (October 24, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's soccer defeated Keuka College, 5-0, on Friday evening to capture its third consecutive North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season crown.

The Nittany Lions (15-2, 11-0 NEAC) have one conference contest remaining, but even with a loss they would be tied with Penn State Abington, who they own the head-to-head tiebreaker over. The Nittany Lions earned the right to host the final two rounds of the NEAC Championship Tournament on Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9.

Jen Kessler opened up the scoring in the 28th minute and finished off the scoring in the 87th minute to raise her total to 15 goals this season. Brennan Moyer scored an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute to give Berks a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break. Lizzie Mummau scored a quick second half goal and added two assists to record four points on the day. Taylor Schwartz also netted a goal, as Ellie McKinstry recorded her second assist of the day.

Savannah Cramer made three saves to pick up the 18th shutout of her career and the teams 12th this season. Cramer heads into the final game of the season with a 0.62 goals against average and an .836 save percentage for the season. Those gaudy numbers are helped out by the defensive play of Katie Warner, Emily Rumpf, Caitlin Deibler, and Moyer.

The Nittany Lions outshot the Wolfpack by a 36-6 margin and held a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Berks will conclude the 2014 regular season on Saturday, October 25 at 1 p.m. against Wells College.
